A one-day forum for professionals interested in enhancing the resilience of individuals, communities and organisations.
The aim of the forum is to share information on the following questions:
- What are useful definitions and frameworks of resilience?
- What are the characteristics of resilient organisations and communities?
- What would be the content of a community’s resilience program?
- What changes should practitioners in health, community development, emergency and disaster management, and engineering/construction make to enhance resilience?
- What are the expected challenges to implementing a resilience program?
- How can a community’s and organisation’s resilience be measured?
- How should resilience be factored into emergency services and communities’ policy?
- What are the developments in resilience and related standards, and how do they affect me?
- What are the accreditation developments for resilience and related practitioners?
- What are the experiences of organisations and communities which have adopted a structured resilience focus?
All participants are encouraged to bring material for distribution. A table will be available for you to leave information for the other participants.
The forum will bring together those responsible for:
• Emergency services
• Communities
• Professional standards
• Researchers and academics
Presentations are currently being sought. Potential presenters are requested to email admin@securityresearch.org.au the title of their proposed address by 30 June, and a few dot points to explain the topic. No abstract is required. You will be notified within a few days of submission if your presentation has been accepted. All presenters are required to pay $100 which covers the cost of the venue and catering.

This event is a multi-organisation event. Organisations which wish to formally support the event should contact the event facilitator. Supporting organisations will be guaranteed a presentation position and logo recognition.
